About the event
Working as the lead sound designer for L'Ultim Rumantsch was an extraordinary experience, both creatively and personally. This show, directed by the talented Adrian Perez, tells a story rooted in the rich heritage of the Romansh-speaking community in Switzerland. It was incredibly special to contribute to a project that shines a light on the Rhaeto-Romanic culture, a lesser-known but vital part of Switzerland's cultural mosaic.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey was the collaboration with a young, passionate crew. Many of us were friends, which added a layer of trust and creativity to the entire process. Working with Adrian Perez was a highlight—his vision and leadership guided us through this challenging but inspiring project, making sure every element resonated with the heart of the story.
Creating the soundscape for a show in Romansh, one of Switzerland's national languages but still rarely heard in mainstream media, was a unique challenge. The language itself carries such a distinct musicality, which I wanted to honor through the sound design. This involved capturing the subtle nuances of the landscapes and characters, which are deeply intertwined with the culture and history of the Rhaeto-Romanic region.
The whole production felt like a labor of love, with everyone bringing their A-game. The process was full of creative challenges, long hours, and unforgettable moments. Being part of a project that represents a part of Switzerland that is often underrepresented made this experience all the more meaningful.
L'Ultim Rumantsch is more than just a show; it's a celebration of a language and culture that deserves to be heard. I'm proud to have been part of it and to have worked alongside such an incredible team.
